TRAVEL TO: BUTTERFLY VALLEY, TURKEY
The place I loved most when visiting Calis Beach, was the day trip I took to Faralya, in a village called Lycia. If hippies, free love and breath-taking views are your thing then this is the place to go.
The Butterfly Valley (Faralya), is a wild island left to grow with colours of golds, pinks, greens and lavender. There is a small group of people who live there, who keep chickens and camp out in tents. It is a community smaller than a hamlet, who welcome visitors into their homes every day.
The Valley earned its name from a swarm of endemic butterflies, after hippies discovered the island in the 1990s, when their original hang out, The Blue Lagoon, became too commercialized. If you're up to it, bring out your comfy trekking shoes because you can visit the habitat of the butterflies, near the waterfalls. But it does take a long walk and a bit of amateur climbing (Note: trust me, don't try it in sandals!).
Of course, if you're tired after visiting the hippies and the butterflies, you can hop on the bus and go visit Aphrodite's Pool in Pamukkale which again, is absolutely gorgeous!! The water is warm, you're surrounded by nature and you can stock up on Turkish nibbles when you're done relaxing...
So for all you jet setters wondering where to go on holiday this year, I can whole-heartedly recommend Turkey. I have visited both Calis (love) and Olu Deniz (Take me back!) which are both as stunning as the other! You can pick up holidays to Turkey for a really great price too, which means you can spend a little extra on that holiday wardrobe!!
