From the moment you lift the lid of this little treasure of a product, you are succumbed to the summery aroma of coconut, avocado and Shea butter, transporting your mind back to your best holiday moments of teasing in the tides and soaking up and sunshine. The thick consistency is my favourite... No loose running liquid that you're desperately trying not to spill on the floor (huge health hazard!) This butter is thick, yet delicate, allowing you to enjoy massaging it into your newly tanned skin as you make that perfect holiday moment last just a little while longer.
Most importantly for me, this butter is absorbed by the skin in an instant. It doesn't leave that greasy residue that other moisturisers have a habit of and when you've spent months searching for that perfect summer dress, you don't want it destroyed with unruly oil marks from your moisturiser. It also boats '12 hours' of hydrated skin and for once, this is a product which totally lives up to the expectations! Once applied, I feel soft, summery and slightly spoilt all day long.
The downside... I must be honest, unfortunately there is a downside to this product and for me, it's the price. Retailing at over £10 a pot (I got through 3 on my last two week holiday), it's not the cheapest product on the market. However, if you check out a range of shops during the summer they are usually always of offer somewhere. A three for two here, a buy one get one free there...
It is certainly worth shopping around in those crucial summer months, it could save you pocket fulls of pennies which of course, could be spent on your next surfing lesson instead!
...
For me, holiday perfection is nothing more than the sand between my toes and the salt air gently tangling my newly waved hair. And as much as I adore the make up free, bohemian beach babe style, there is one beauty product that hit my summer must have list last year... Bourjois's Colour Boost Lip Crayons. I was sceptical giving these a try during my last holiday, who can pull off striking lip colours at the beach anyway? Oh but I was wrong.
These crayons are made for the beach. Beautifully shaded in summer tones (yes I'm guilty of owning all 4 now) they moisturise your lips with a sheer colour that hints 'I made an effort' yet in truth, was quite the opposite.
Each colour is sheer and glossy (think Vaseline style shine and texture, not sticky-attract-wasps-and-sand lipgloss). This makes them effortless to apply and allows you to control the shade by how much you apply. The effect on the beach is stunning, tasseled beach hair, newly formed freckles and rosy cheeks then the subtle girly hint of colour reflecting the suns rays... Pose for those photos now because nobody will be able to take their eyes off you!
Wearing this on the beach really does bring a special something to natural beauty and makes the transition from beach to bar easy and beautiful. There's another highlight too, as a bonus, this product also contains SPF 15 to protect your lips from the sun (be honest, who really remembers to 'sun cream' their lips usually?).
The only claim I found this product not meeting was its proposal of lasting for 10 hours. It's waterproof and long lasting, and don't get me wrong, it's still there after a dip in the sea. But it's long gone before 10 hours. However, the product is fairly priced (about £7/8) and I've not yet needed to 'twist' for more product after almost a year of use. So reapplying half way through the day is a task I can handle. Especially when I know this product does the unthinkable... Combining safety and beauty. Why can't all products make summer this fun?"
